The Pros and Cons of Dental Treatment in Turkey: A Comprehensive Guide
Are you considering dental treatment abroad? Turkey has become a popular destination for dental tourism, but is it the right choice for you? Read on to discover the pros and cons of dental treatment in Turkey.
Over the past decade, dental tourism has grown significantly, with many people choosing to travel abroad for dental procedures to save money, access better quality care, or combine their treatment with a vacation. One country that has emerged as a popular destination for dental tourism is Turkey. But, like any medical procedure, there are pros and cons to consider when deciding whether dental treatment in Turkey is the right choice for you. In this comprehensive guide, we will delve into the advantages and disadvantages of seeking dental care in Turkey.
The Pros of Dental Treatment in Turkey
One of the main reasons people choose Turkey for dental treatment is the cost savings. Dental procedures in Turkey are significantly cheaper than in countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, or other Western European countries. These cost savings are due to lower overheads, lower labor costs, and the favorable exchange rate. Patients can save up to 50-70% on dental procedures, making it an attractive option for those seeking affordable care.
High-Quality Treatment and Facilities
Turkey is home to many state-of-the-art dental clinics and highly skilled dentists who provide top-quality care. Many Turkish dentists have trained abroad and are familiar with the latest techniques and procedures in dentistry. The clinics often boast cutting-edge equipment and adhere to strict international standards, ensuring that patients receive the best possible treatment.
Convenient Travel and Accommodation Options
Turkey is well-connected to major cities worldwide, making it relatively easy to travel to for dental treatment. With many flights to choose from and a wide range of accommodation options, patients can find a comfortable and convenient stay during their visit. Additionally, some dental clinics in Turkey offer all-inclusive packages that include treatment, accommodation, and transportation, further simplifying the process for dental tourists.
The Cons of Dental Treatment in Turkey
Potential Language Barrier
Although many dentists and clinic staff in Turkey speak English, there may still be instances where communication can be a challenge. Language barriers can lead to misunderstandings, which could impact the quality of care or the patient’s overall experience.
Travel and Recovery Time
Traveling to Turkey for dental treatment means spending time away from home, which may not be ideal for some patients. The time required for travel, treatment, and recovery can be lengthy, particularly for complex procedures. Additionally, long flights can be uncomfortable for patients who have just undergone dental surgery.
Limited Follow-Up Care
One potential drawback of dental treatment in Turkey is the limited access to follow-up care once you return home. If complications arise, it can be challenging to coordinate with your Turkish dentist from afar. While many dentists in Turkey provide aftercare services, the distance and logistics can make it difficult to receive timely and adequate follow-up care.
While many dental clinics in Turkey adhere to international standards, it’s essential to be aware of potential differences in regulations and practices. Ensure that the clinic you choose is accredited and that the dentist is licensed and experienced in the specific procedure you require.

UK dental prosthesis expenditure: £800
Cosmeticium dental prosthesis mean expenditure: £440 (encompasses abutment + recuperation cap)
Grasping the intricacies of dental prosthesis outlay and its variability proves vital. Numerous establishments in the UK & Europe levy exorbitant fees compared to Turkey. The disparity primarily arises from the establishments’ requisite to offset expenses for attaining profits. Avoid lamenting over unwarranted expenditures for identical procedures. Embrace the multitudes of individuals venturing to Turkey annually to avail themselves of dental prosthesis services.
Various dental prosthesis categories exist, extending from singular implants to comprehensive teeth and gum replacements. The classifications include:
Single Dental Implant
An individual dental prosthesis substitutes a lone tooth that is lost or impaired. The implant embeds within the jawbone, and a crown adheres to the prosthesis.
Implant Supported Bridge
A prosthesis-supported span addresses multiple contiguous absent teeth. For instance, if a trio of sequential teeth are missing, two implants can be inserted into the jawbone for the exterior teeth, followed by fastening a span of three crowns atop.
Full Mouth Restoration
Two alternatives exist for a complete oral renewal. In the first scenario, a span comprising an entire set of 12 teeth can be supplanted across six dental prostheses. Conversely, a comprehensive set of removable dentures can be situated over four implants.
The quantity of dental crowns required will be determined during your complimentary consultation or via the visual materials you supply. You will be informed regarding the extent of treatment necessary to accomplish your objectives.
Future dental crown replacements might be necessary, although they typically aren’t anticipated for a duration exceeding 15 years.
